Show Notes

Episode 1 of Pod Pit is an introduction to the podcast to cover what it is all about, what type of content to expect and what the guest list is looking like. I’m Gareth, the host and I’m joined by Wendy Hill who is a friend, client and networking colleague. The reason I asked Wendy to interview me in this episode is because it was Wendy who introduced me to podcasting back in 2019. She interviewed me for her own podcast and I thought it would make sense to bring her on to Pod Pit to help launch it.

Wendy interviews Gareth on:

  • Why do a podcast?

    • I love stories. I enjoy talking to people with incredible stories and learning from them. Simple as that really! Most people have something amazing to say even if they don’t know it and I liked the idea of asking regular people to talk about things they’re passionate about and discover that actually - “yeah I do have something interesting to say”! I also truly believe that we learn and grow from hearing stories. We’re programmed to respond to visuals better than any form of medium but I feel that Podcasting is an amazing way to share stories with a wider audience.
  • Who is this for?

    • Naturally, there is a creative theme running through my plans for Pod Pit - and that is because I’m a creative and i’m comfortable talking and leading discussion in this sphere but there are crossovers into general business chat and family life as well. A lot of my peers in business listen to podcasts and three things many SME operators have in common is the challenges business throws up, the need to think creatively to make your business work and the joy and juggling of family life. So I will kind of tick off those three areas in various episodes. I think this will be useful for young creatives who are about to fly solo and for business leaders who are looking to hear incredible stories from people just like them.
  •  What type of content can we expect to see?

    • As I touched on there will be a lot of creative content and topic. I’ve got episodes lined up covering graphic design, interior design, web development, marketing, and personal branding. I’ve got a vast array of general business content planned - growth, strategy, IT, data, money in business and some cool stuff like getting fit for work, how to set up a business in a pandemic and working away from home in different countries. I have a lot of family based content to - kids, parenting, supporting vulnerable parents during Covid and how challenging homeschooling kids is when running a business.
  • What does the guest list look like?

    • STACKED! I’ve pulled strings to get some really amazing people on. Internationally renowned designers, copywriters, web developers, authors, fit-pros, I’ve got a couple of elite athletes - former Olympian and a current British boxing champion. Tons of really really amazing business people who are operating on a high level within their industry. It should be a very very insightful podcast once we get some traction and I’m super excited to kick it all off!
